Alejandro Agag

Alejandro Tarik Agag Longo ( born September 18, 1970 in Madrid ) is a Spanish businessman and former politician of the conservative PP. He was a member of the European Parliament and Secretary General of the European People's Party, and is the son of former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar.

Life

Alejandro Agag is the son of a product originating in Algeria bankers and investment advisor. While studying business administration at the Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros he joined the conservative Partido Popular (PP ). After the electoral victory of the PP in the Spanish parliamentary elections in 1996 Agag was personal adviser to the newly elected Prime Minister José María Aznar.

In the European elections in 1999, he won a seat in the European Parliament for the PP. In the same year he was elected as the successor of Klaus Welle Secretary General of the European People's Party (EPP ), in 2000 he became Secretary General of the Christian Democratic International (CDI ). However, he later announced his intention to resign his political office and devote an economic career. On 11 April 2002, therefore, he resigned his seat in the European Parliament also. In 2003 he resigned as CDI -General, and was succeeded by Antonio López- Istúriz White.

On 5 September 2002, married Ana Aznar Botella Agag, the daughter of José María Aznar. The wedding was in Spain into a major media event. It took place in the presence of the Spanish King Juan Carlos, Prime Minister Tony Blair and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and numerous other Spanish personalities in the monastery of El Escorial.

After the end of his political career Agag worked among other things in the Portuguese Sociedade Lusa de Negocios Holding, which owns, among other things, the bank Banco Português de Negocios. In addition Agag had been involved contacts with the business of Formula 1 and was as Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone bought the English football club Queens Park Rangers in late 2007.

Since 2012 he has worked as CEO of Formula E Holdings, which he had founded to market the E formula ..

He has won several awards for his entrepreneurial career, among other things, the Spanish edition of GQ magazine as the " Entrepreneur of the Year "
