Alejandro Luna

Alejandro Luna ( born December 1, 1939 in Mexico City) is a Mexican lighting and stage designer.

Luna graduated in architecture. He works as a set designer and lighting at the theater and the opera, but also for film and television. He was director of the Centro Universitario de Teatro at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM) and has taught since 1958 at many Mexican universities. At the Prague Quadrennial he took from 1967 to 1975 three times in a row and in 2003 and 2007 in part. In 2003, he was there at the international jury. He has received, among others in 2001 with the Mexican Fine Arts National Award ( Premio Nacional de Artes) and in 2004 with the Distinguished Artist Award of the International Society for the Performing Arts. The Universidad Autónoma de Baja California ( UABC ) awarded him an honorary doctorate.
