Alejandro Otero

Alejandro Otero ( born March 7, 1921 in El Mateco, Bolívar; † August 13, 1990 in Caracas ) was a Venezuelan sculptor, painter and cultural events.

Life

Otero studied at the Escuela de Artes y Artes Plásticas Aplicadas de Caracas from 1939 to 1945 when finished. His studies, he traveled to New York and Paris, where he focused its work on a renewal of Cubism, especially with its series with the name " Cafeteras ". These works were in 1948 by an exhibition in Washington DC famous, since they served Otero as a transition to realism and began a new era of Venezuelan painting. Towards the end of his life he designed many monumental public art exhibitions in many American cities.
