Aleko (Rachmaninoff)

Aleko ( Russian: Алеко ) is the first of the four operas by Sergei Rachmaninov, he still wrote at the Moscow Conservatory. The Russian libretto was written by Vladimir Nemirovich -Danchenko. It is an adaptation of the poem Tsygany ( " Gypsies " ) by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. The premiere took place on 27 Apriljul. / May 9 1893greg. place in the Bolshoi Theatre.
