Alekos Michaelides

Alekos Michaelides ( Aleksandros Michailidis ) ( born August 13, 1933 Milikouri, Cyprus, † January 6, 2008 in Paphos, Cyprus) was a Cypriot hotel owners, managers and politicians.

Life

Michaelides studied economics in Britain and the United States of America.

From 1993 to 1997 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, after he had held from 1974 to 1981 the President of the House of Representatives, the Office ( Βουλή των Αντιπροσώπων ).

Michaelides died on 6 January 2008, at the age of 74 after a long illness in a hospital in Paphos; the burial took place in Cyprus' capital Nicosia.
