Aleksandar Šapić

Aleksandar Šapić (Cyrillic Александар Шапић; born June 1, 1978 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian water polo player.

He is 191 cm tall and 105 kg in weight. At the World Cup 2005 in Montreal, he won the gold medal with the national team of Serbia and Montenegro. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 he received a silver medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and a bronze medal was served with each scorer. At the World League in 2005 in Belgrade he won the gold medal with the Serbian team. On 10 September 2006, he took with the Serbian national team's European Championship in Belgrade, the first title under the new name.

Šapić played since his departure from Becej VK (2001) in the strong Italian League for RN Camogli and RN Savona Savona in 2005 and won with the LEN Trophy.

In 2006 he transferred to the Russian league to Shturm 2002 Chekhov. There he received a three -year contract that earns him $ 300,000 annually. This contract makes him the highest-paid water currently shooting.
