Aleksander Fredro

Aleksander Fredro ( born June 20, 1793 in Surochów in Jarosław, † July 15, 1876 in Lviv ) was a Polish dramatist and the greatest comedy writer of his country at all.

Count Fredro was a French soldier during the Napoleonic Wars, and was active in the Polish resistance against the Austria - Hungarian rule in Galicia. He wrote humorous comedies in which political punch lines are hidden, and his figures show the many characteristics of Poland. Great popularity reached its pieces, but only after his death, and they may not be missing on the board of the Polish theater until today. Today Fredro regarded as a Polish Molière. He has also written numerous poems and fairy tales.

As the best comedy Fredro and a masterpiece of Polish literature applies the " Zemsta " ( revenge for the border wall ). For 220sten birthday Fredro comedy was issued simultaneously in the spring of 2013 by two Warsaw theater.
