Aleksander Kotsis

Aleksander Kotsis (* May 30, 1836 in Ludwinów now a district of Krakow; † August 7, 1877 in Podgórze, now a district of Kraków ) was a Polish painter.

Life

From 1850 Kotsis studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts, among others with Wojciech Stattler and Władysław Luszczkiewicz. His friends included Jan Matejko, Andrzej Grabowski and Artur Grottger. 1860 Kotsis went to Vienna where he continued his studies. He painted mainly landscapes, portraits and genre paintings.
