Aleksandr Chernykh

Alexander Alexandrovich Tschornych (Russian Александр Александрович Чёрных; born September 22, 1965 in Woskressensk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player.

Career

During his career he played in Chimik Woskressensk and the HK CSKA Moscow. In the NHL Entry Draft in 1983, he was selected in the tenth round to 185 place by the New Jersey Devils. Due to the political situation in the former Soviet Union, he never played in the National Hockey League. Overall, he scored 59 goals in 231 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team. On October 29, 1987, he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games 1988. For the national team, he scored 12 goals in 45 internationals. On 1 May 1989 he played his last international match. In 1988, he was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame".
