Alexander Alexandrovich Menkow (Russian Александр Александрович Меньков; born December 7, 1990 in Minusinsk ) is a Russian long jumper. At a height of 1.76 m his competition weight is 75 kg.

Life

Alexander Menkow was a sports soldier. He studied at the State Pedagogical University in Krasnoyarsk.

Achievements

Alexander Menkow won at the 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships in Novi Sad with 7,98 m. In the Russian Indoor Championships 2011 in Moscow he finished second with 7.88 meters. The Grand Prix Meeting 2011 in Dakar as part of the IAAF World Challenge he won with 8.16 m in front of Yahya Berrabah. In the Super League Athletics Team Championship 2011 in Stockholm he won the championship record of 8.20 m the long jump competition before Michel Tornéus and Christopher Tomlinson. The U23 European Athletics Championships Ostrava 2011 he won with 8.08 m in front of Marcos Chuva. At the World Athletics Championships 2011 in Daegu, he reached the final and finished there with 8,19 m in her second attempt to sixth place. Then he won at the International Stadium Festival Berlin ( ISTAF ) with 8.15 m ahead of the reigning world champion Dwight Phillips and the Hanžeković Memorial as part of the IAAF World Challenge in Zagreb with 8,18 m. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Istanbul in 2012, he received the bronze medal with 8.22 meters in a competition, he had led up to the 5th jump, the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in 2013 he won with 8.31 m. The World Athletics Championships 2013 in Moscow, he won with 8.56 m.

On September 7, 2012, he jumped at the victory in the final of the IAAF Diamond League in Brussels with 8.29 m, a new personal best and also won the overall title of the series.
