Aleksandr Razumny

Alexander Efimovich Rasumny (Russian Александр Ефимович Разумный, scientific transliteration Aleksandr Efimovič Razumnyj; born May 1, 1891 in Jelisawetgrad, Ukraine, † 16 November 1972 in Moscow) was a Russian film director and cinematographer.

Life

Rasumny studied painting at the Art Academy in Odessa. Since 1915 he worked for the film, making it one of the founders of the Russian / Soviet film. He made his directorial debut in 1917, during the revolutionary period he turned agitation movies.

In Germany created under his aegis 1926, the films superfluous man ( with Eugen Klopfer, Heinrich George, Fritz Rasp, Albert Steinrück and Werner Krauss ) and 1927 Pique Dame ( with Jenny Jugo ).

From 1930 he worked again in Moscow for several film production companies, and taught at the National Film Institute of the USSR.
