Aleksandra Kurzak

Aleksandra Kurzak ( born August 7, 1977 in Brzeg Dolny ) is a Polish opera and operetta singer in the vocal range soprano.

Life and work

Aleksandra Kurzak is the daughter of opera singer Jolanta Zmurko and the bugler Henryk Kurzak. After the completion of Music High School, she studied violin before she finished singing at the Academy of Music in Wroclaw. In 1999 she made ​​her debut at the Vienna State Opera in Breslau ( where they always occurs as a guest) as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro. Furthermore, she took singing lessons with Ingrid Kremling at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg.

From 2001 to 2007 Aleksandra Kurzak was closely associated with the Hamburg State Opera, first as a member of the International Opera Studio, then with the 2003/ 2004 as a permanent member.

In December 2004, she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Olympia in the premiere of The Tales of Hoffmann, and in July 2005 as Aspasia in Mitridate, re di Ponto at London's Royal Opera House. Other engagements she had, inter alia, at the opera houses of Munich, Vienna, Toulouse, Palermo, Rome, Chicago and Salzburg.

To her extensive repertoire include: Kate Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly, Gilda in Rigoletto, Marcellina in Fidelio, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Queen of the Night and Papagena in The Magic Flute, Marie in Zar und Zimmermann, Oberto in Alcina, Blonde in The abduction from the Seraglio, Annie in Der Freischütz, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Nannetta in Falstaff, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Norina in Don Pasquale, Adele in Die Fledermaus and Adina in L' Elisir d' Amore

Kurzak is married to the baritone Jacek Jaskuła.
