Aleksanteri Toivola

Aleksanteri " Santtu " Toivola ( born March 4, 1893 in Vyborg, † August 27, 1987 in Helsinki) was a Finnish wrestler.

Aleksanteri Toivola occurred in 1916 in the Ringer club Viipurin Voimailijat, for the wrestlers also like August Pekkanen and Oskar Friman went to the start. In the early 1920s he rose to become world class in Greco- Roman style. The Wrestling World Championships 1921 in Helsinki, the Finnish wrestlers won all six competitions. Toivola ranked featherweight ( class to 62 kg) took second place behind compatriot Kalle Anttila. Also silver behind Antilla won Toivola at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, as the Finns won three out of six competitions in Greco- Roman style. Four years later, at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam took Toivola after two wins and two defeats in sixth place.

His son Lassi Toivola was at five Olympic Games 1972-1992 referee at the wrestler competitions.
