Aleksei Budõlin

Aleksei Budõlin ( born April 5, 1976 in Tallinn, Estonian SSR, Soviet Union ) is a former Estonian judoka. He was European champion and medalist at World Championships and Olympic Games. His brother Dmitri is also judoka.

Sporting career

Budõlin could already celebrate successes in the junior age. So it was in 1995 and 1996 European junior champion in the class to 78 kg. In 1998, he won his first World Cup competition in Prague. A year later he won the silver medal in the category up to 73 kg at the European Championships. In 2000 he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in the class to 81 kg. In the Summer Olympics, he could also win the bronze medal in this weight class. He became European Champion in 2001 and won at the World Championships in Munich, the silver medal in the weight category to 81 kg. In 2003, he was able to fight his last international medals. He won the bronze medal at both the European Championships and at the World Championships.

Budõlin won six World Cup races in his career. His last World Cup victory he celebrated in Budapest in 2005. From 2001 to 2008 Create Budõlin TSV Abensberg in the Bundesliga. In 2009 he ended his active career and has since worked as a coach. He played his last international competition at the Nordic Championships in May 2009, where he won the class to 90 kg. Together with his brother Dimitri he operates in Tallinn the judo club Budolinn Judokool.
