Aleksei Maslennikov (tenor)

Alexei Dmitrievich Maslennikov (Russian Алексей Дмитриевич Масленников; born September 9, 1929 in Novocherkassk ) is a Soviet and Russian character tenor. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and made his debut in 1953 in this same city. In 1955 he became a permanent member of the troupe of the Bolshoi Theatre. Since the 1960s and into the 90s inside he gave numerous guest performances in Germany and abroad and has been recognized internationally as a master of comic - grotesque or malignant compartment, as a Russian Gerhard Stolze.

In 1970, he appeared as Schuiski in the recording of Modest Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov under the direction of Herbert von Karajan ( Decca ). Other well-known recordings include, without limitation Khovanshchina ( Mussorgsky ), conductor Boris Chaikin ( Melodia, 1972); Ruslan and Lyudmila ( Mikhail Glinka ), Yuri Simonov under ( Melodia, 1979); Betrothal in a Monastery ( Prokofiev ), under the direction of Alexander Lazarev ( Melodia, 1990).
