Aleksei Volkov (ice hockey)

Alexei Vladimirovich Volkov (Russian: Алексей Владимирович Волков; born March 15, 1980 in Sverdlovsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since May 2013 in Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Alexei Volkov began his career with Dynamo-Energy Yekaterinburg, Krylia Sovetov Moscow to before he joined in 1997, where he stayed for one season. NHL Entry Draft 1998 the Los Angeles Kings had selected him in the third round to 76th place, for he never was used. 1998 to 2001 played Volkov in the unterklassigen North American leagues. For the season 2001 /02 he returned to Russia to Ufa Salavat Yulaev. It was followed by three seasons at HK Dynamo Moscow, the 2005/ 06 HK MVD Tver and the three seasons with Vityaz Chekhov. For the 2009/10 season he returned to HK MVD who had been resettled in the meantime after Balaschicha, and was recorded as well as his previous club Vityaz Chekhov in 2008 to the newly formed Continental Hockey League.

For the season 2010/11 HK MVD Balaschicha was merged with the HK Dynamo Moscow and Volkov received a contract with their successor OHK Dynamo club, for whom he played until January 2013. He then moved up to the end of the season to Atlant Mytischtschi before he was again obliged Salavat Yulaev Ufa of.

Internationally

For Russia, Volkov took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 1999 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2000.
