Life

Remizov was born as the son of a merchant. He attended trade school and then studied mathematics and physics at the University of Moscow. In 1897 he was sent because of his participation in a student demonstration in exile in northern Russia (among Vologda ). There he was looking for a strike in Penza to organize, which earned him a re- sentencing. Now he dealt with the Russian language, with Russian proverbs, wrote and published his first short stories, and was also involved in theater productions. Around 1900 he met his future wife, the translator Serafima Dowgello to know.

In 1905, he returned from exile and moved to St. Petersburg, where he worked as an employee of the journal Voprosy shisni.

Remizov, who was described by his environment as eccentric, tried first as an actor, stage and makeup artist, singer and painter. He also dreamed of becoming pyrotechnician. He became extremely successful ultimately as a writer.

Remizov belonged to the Russian Symbolism, enough time into it but also in surrealism. He associated, among others, Alexander Blok, Anna Akhmatova, Ivan Bunin, and Michael Kuzmin.
