Aleppo Governorate
Aleppo (Arabic حلب, Halab ) is a Syrian province ( محافظة, muḥāfaẓa ) in the northwest of the country on the border with Turkey. In the northeast of the province of the Euphrates flows.
The largest city is the capital of Aleppo. There are also the towns of Al- Bab, Dscharabulus, Afrin, A'zāz, Ain al-Arab and Manbidsch. The province is 18,500 km ² and has about 3.1 million inhabitants ( 2005). Arabs and Kurds make up a large part of the population. The Kurdish population lives mostly on the border with Turkey.
