Aleš Čeh

Aleš Čeh ( born April 7, 1968 in Maribor, SFR Yugoslavia, now Slovenia ) is a former Slovenian football player and now to coach.

Career

Čeh began his career with Slovan Ljubljana. His next club was the local rivals Slovan, Olimpija. In 1992 he moved across the border to Grazer AK, at that time in the second Austrian power level. The Athletikern remained the defensive midfielder eleven years faithfully. Into this period falls equally the resurgence of the traditional club of the Mur as well as numerous appearances in the Slovenian national team. With the GAK he was in 2000 and 2002 respectively Austrian Cup and Supercup winner in years. From 2003 to 2005 he played in his homeland for NK Maribor. In January 2005 it overtook Werner Gregoritsch, in Graz was one of his trainers already, for LASK Linz. In 2006 he moved back to his homeland, this time back to his first professional station, the NK Olimpija Ljubljana.

National

Aleš Čeh played 74 times in the Slovenian National Team at the 2002 World Cup, he led the team as captain.

Coaching career

After ending his playing career he coached the youth team of under 16 -year-olds at the Slovenian Association and worked as an assistant coach in Olimpija. In June 2011, he took over after the departure of Peter Stoeger as coach at Grazer AK. After just one season he resigned on June 9, 2012 after missing out on promotion by his coach office in Graz. On September 14, 2012, the Slovenian first division Rudar Velenje appointed him as successor to the sacked coach Dušan Kosič.

On January 2, 2013, he was named Srečko Katanec as his assistant coach of the Slovenian national football team and he joined as a club coach back in Velenje.
