Alesia Turava

Alesja Turawskie ( weißruss. Алеся Турава; . Engl transcription Alesya Turava; born 6 December 1979) is a Belarusian athlete. She won the 2006 inaugural at the European Championships 3000 -meter steeplechase for women.

At the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon in 2001 she won in the 1500 meter race in 4:13,67 min sixth. In the summer she won in Amsterdam at the U23 European Championships in 4:09,71 min. In Edmonton at the 2001 World Championships she was in 4:07,25 min seventh. At the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002, she won bronze in 4:07,69 min. On July 27, 2002, it released in Gdansk in 9:16,51 minutes to set a new world record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. At the European Championships in Munich in 2002, it was about 1500 meters in 4:06,64 min seventh.

Also she took seventh place at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2003 with 4:08,20 min. A year later at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 2004, she was again in 4:09,81 min seventh. At the European Indoor Championships in Madrid in 2005, she was fifth in 4:08,81 min.

Since 1994, the first time took a Belarusian team at the European Championships until 2006, no race walker and not a runner who won gold for Belarus. In Gothenburg at the European Championships in 2006 won the first Alesjas younger sister Ryta Turawskie the 20 km walk. Four days later Alesja Turawskie won in 9:26,05 min the title in the inaugural 3,000-meter steeplechase. One and a half months later Turawskie also won the World Cup.

At a height of 1.80 m her competition weight is 64 kg.
