Alessandra Ferri

Alessandra Ferri ( born May 6, 1963 in Milan ) is a ballet dancer. From 1992 to 2005 she was a prima ballerina at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano and one of the most famous dancers in the world.

The repertoire of Alessandra Ferri includes both the great classical ballet roles as well as modern pieces.

Biography

In her childhood she learned dancing at the Teatro alla Scala. At the age of 15 she was accepted into the school of the Royal Ballet in London. In 1980 she won a prize at the dance competition in Lausanne and was accepted as a member of the Royal Ballet London.

In 1985 she moved, at the invitation of Mikhail Baryshnikov, American Ballet Theatre and the American prima ballerina was there. In 1992 she became the first Italian dancer danseuse étoile as Première invited to the Paris Opera, and worked together with Roland Petit.
