Alessandro Allori

Alessandro Allori ( born May 31, 1535 Florence, † September 22, 1607 ) was an Italian painter of the Mannerist.

Life and work

Allori was a pupil of his uncle, Agnolo Bronzino, whose name ( Il Bronzino ), he also took on sometimes. Another example is Michelangelo, whose works he studied from 1554 to 1559 during his stay in Rome. In 1560 he settled in Florence. The nudes after 1570 show him as a typical masterpiece of Mannerism. He painted especially frescoes and paintings with mythological and religious subjects and was overseer of the Grand Ducal carpet weaving in Florence.

His theoretical interests, especially to the anatomy and the study of proportion, were incorporated in the resultant after 1560 book Libro delle de'ragionamenti egole del Disegno. In addition, several drawings of anatomical studies that dealt with the " deconstruction and reconstruction of the human body " and formed the basis for his depictions of the body emerged.
