Alessandro " Spillo " Altobelli ( born November 28, 1955 in Sonnino ( LT), Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer. Because of its wiry and slender physique gave him the tifosi the nickname " Spillo " which means " needle " means in German.

Club career

The center forward Altobelli began his professional career in 1974 at Brescia Calcio and was finish after his move in 1977 to Inter Milan one of the big stars of the team until 1988. Afterwards, he left his career with one season at Juventus and one season at Brescia Calcio.

For Inter, he played 466 games and scored 209 goals ( of which 128 Goals 317 Serie A games). He is by Giuseppe Meazza the top scorer of the club. In Italian Cup competition and in the European Altobelli is even scorer of the Nerazzurri.

National

For Italy national football team he played in the European Football Championship in 1980, became world champion at the World Cup in Spain in 1982, where he scored the 3-0 in the 3-1 final win against Germany, and shot four of five Italian ports (where the fifth goal was an own goal by South Korea ) at the Football World Cup 1986 in Mexico. His international career he finished at the European Football Championship 1988 in Germany.
