Alessandro Birindelli (2006)

Alessandro Birindelli ( born November 12, 1974 in Pisa ) is an Italian former football player and current coach.

Playing career

In the club

Alessandro Birindelli began his professional career with FC Empoli for which he spent five years, from 1992 to 1997 played. In the summer of 1997, he moved to Juventus, the much needed defense at the time after the departure of players like Sergio Porrini and Moreno Torricelli.

In his first season at Juve, he was immediately able to celebrate winning the Italian championship. In the following years he was partly regulars and partly only reserve power, yet he was always deliver good performances for his speed and his ability in his Juve coaches ( Marcello Lippi, Carlo Ancelotti and Fabio Capello), even if he had not played a long time or came off the bench always appreciated.

In summer 2005, as part of a friendly match against Sporting Lisbon to Birindelli badly injured ankle and was almost for the whole 2005/06 season out of action.

The 2006/07 season he played with Juventus because of the manipulation scandal in Serie B and he took again a more important place in the team. Due to its age of 32 years now and the disposal of many stars in defense, as Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta, Alessandro Birindelli was one of the leading players in the squad and behind Juve captain Alessandro Del Piero second. He played 37 of 46 league games and had thus contributed significantly to the immediate revival of the old lady.

2007/ 08 came Alessandro Birindelli at Juventus only sporadically used. After his contract in Turin was due to expire in the summer of 2008, he moved, now 33 years old, in his hometown for the Series B Movers Pisa Calcio.

In August 2009, the third division AS Pescina Valle del Giovenco announced a commitment by the defender. In 2010 he ended his active career.

In the National Team

Alessandro Birindelli made ​​his debut in the Italian national team on 20 November 2002 in a 1-1 draw against Turkey, Azzurra his last of six appearances for the Squadra he had on 18 August 2004 in the 2-0 in Iceland.

Coaching career

2010 was assistant coach Dario Bonetti Birindelli at the Zambian national team. From September 2011 to October 2011 he took over as coach in U.S. Pistoiese in Serie D.
