Alessandro Salvio

Alessandro Salvio (* 1570, † 1640 ) was an Italian chess player who is regarded as the strongest chess player in 1600.

He founded an Italian chess academy in Naples and wrote a book called Trattato dell'Inventione et Liberal Arte del Gioco Degli Scacci, which was published in 1604 in Naples. He also wrote Il Puttino, a biography of Leonardo da Cutri, published 1634th It appeared a position which falsely Lucena was often attributed.
