Alesso Baldovinetti

Alesso Baldovinetti (* probably on October 14, 1425 in Florence, † August 29 1499 in Florence) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance.

Life and work

Baldovinetti was a pupil of Domenico Veneziano. His early works include The Wedding at Cana, Christ's baptism, transfiguration Christi. 1470 emerged the Annunciation and the Church of S. Ambrogio in Florence the altarpiece with the four saints; a tabernacle in the center of this altar replaced Baldovinetti 1485 together with his student Graffione by a Madonna and Child ( 1470, Musée du Louvre).

His Lady in Yellow ( 63x40 wood ) was purchased as a work of Piero della Francesca of the National Gallery of London ( Source: National Gallery London by Sir Philip Hendy ( page 100 Baldovinetti lady in yellow) Bertelsmann Verlag).
