Aletes (son of Aegisthus)

Aletes (Greek Ἀλήτης ), the son of Aegisthus, in Greek mythology, was a king of Mycenae.

After Orestes Aegisthus and his own mother, Clytemnestra had killed for the murder of his father Agamemnon, he had to leave the country because of the violence of the matricide. As at Mycenae arrived the wrong message, Orestes had been sacrificed in Tauris of Artemis, Aletes took over the kingdom. However, Orestes returned, killed Aletes and had himself crowned king.
