Alex De Angelis

Alex De Angelis (born 26 February 1984 in Rimini, Emilia -Romagna, Italy ) is a san- marinesischer motorcycle racer. He became in 2003 Vice World Champion in the 125cc class of the MotoGP World Championship.

Career

De Angelis began as a child with the motorcycle sport, initially on minibikes. Later he went into the Italian 125cc Championship. At 15, he was the first to use the Grand Prix of Imola in the 1999 World Cup, but by busting out.

Since the 2000 season is Alex De Angelis regular driver in the World Cup, first on Honda from 2002 for Aprilia. In 2003 he became vice world champion in the 125 cc class behind the Spaniard Dani Pedrosa. For the following season, he moved to the 250 cc class, where his motorcycle racer for a relatively high body height of 180 cm, not as big a disadvantage as more was in the eighth liter class. In his rookie 250cc season already succeeded De Angelis, retract two podiums and one pole position. He finished the season in fifth place overall. This upward trend in 2005 helped him to a seat in MS Aprilia Italia Corse factory team, where he competed on the side of the Italian Simone Corsi. In the 2012 season he drives for NGM Mobile Forward Racing in Moto2 again, his team-mate is the Japanese Yūki Takahashi.

At the Grand Prix of San Marino 2010, he was one of two drivers who could not avoid after a fall Shoya Tomizawa and ran over him, whereupon Tomizawa died. De Angelis suffered thereby no serious injuries.
