Alex Figge

Alex Figge ( born January 29, 1981 in Boulder, Colorado) is an American race car driver. He joined intermittently from 2005 to 2011 in the American Le Mans Series.

Career

Figge began his motorsport career in 1998 in the Star Mazda Series, in which he was three years running. He was 16 in 2001 in the U.S. F2000 National Championship. In 2002, Figge in the Atlantic Championship to World Speed ​​Motorsports. With a sixth place as best result he ended the season on the 18 championship course. 2003 Figge went for Pacific Coast Motorsports in the Atlantic Championship at the start. With two fifth places as the best results he was at the end of the season in ninth place in the drivers' standings. In 2004 he stayed with Pacific Coast Motorsports. While his teammate Jon Fogarty decided the championship, Figge is improved with a victory to seventh place in the championship.

2005 Figge left the Formula racing to participate in long-distance races. He started to continue for Pacific Coast Motorsports, where his father was engaged as co-owner Tom Figge. He made his debut in the American Le Mans Series ( ALMS), in which he finished ninth GTS - rating, as well as in the Grand-Am Sports Car Series. 2006 Figge was only in the Grand-Am Sports Car Series and was active with a podium placing 16th in the DP rating.

2007 returned Figge back into formula racing and entered for Pacific Coast Motorsports in the Champ Car World Series. In his first race he scored with an eighth place, the only top - 10 ranking, while his teammate Ryan Dalziel came in the top ten drivers six times. At the end of the season Figge finished in 17th place in the drivers' standings. 2008 Figge should do another Champ Car season. However, the series merged before the season starts with the IndyCar Series. Figge occurred only to a race in which the former Champ Car teams went to the start at. Since he took part in any other race, he received no championship points.

Figge then returned to endurance racing. He entered 2008 in the ALMS and was 18th in the GT2 championship. Over the next three years Figge denied only individual race. In 2009 he took part in a race in the Grand-Am Sports Car Series, part 2010, three ALMS races and 2011 at an ALMS race.
