Alex Funke

Alex Funke ( born October 12, 1944 in Santa Barbara, California, USA) is an American special effects artist.

Life and work

First, Alex Funke studied biochemistry for several years, but then moved in the early 1960s at the UCLA Film School. He then worked for eleven years, with Charles and Ray Eames. The most famous project from this period is the short film Ten High. After that, he was involved in Battlestar Galactica on the creation of the thumbnail images. From the year 2001 he made ​​especially for his involvement with the Lord of the Rings trilogy attention, among other things, two Academy Awards in the category Best earned him visual effects.

In addition to his normal job in film productions spark had in the meantime also worked at UCLA and Loyola Marymount University as a lecturer and held guest lectures in Italy and Norway.
