Alex Grant ( born January 20, 1989 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since March 2014 when the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the, in the AHL for the Binghamton Senators use comes.

Career

Youth

Alex Grant began in his hometown of Antigonish in Antigonish Bulldogs with the local hockey games. In summer 2005, he moved to the Saint John Sea Dogs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League ( QMJHL ), after he was selected in the first place in the corresponding QMJHL Entry Draft in 2005. The Sea Dogs defender summed up fast foot and had already in his second season statistics of 12 goals and 20 assists in 68 games on. This was followed by the NHL Entry Draft 2007, where he was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins at 118th position. For now, however, he remained with the Sea Dogs, in which the following season 2007/ 08 he rose again and came up with 48 points scorer in 70 games; he also reached with the team the play-off semi-final, left there but with a sweep against the Huskies de Rouyn -Noranda.

During the 2008/ 09 season he was transferred (together with a fifth- round draft pick ) by the Sea Dogs to also playing in the QMJHL Shawinigan Cataractes; in return received the Sea Dogs Danick Gauthier, a first- and a second-round draft pick. In the course of the season he was also for the AHL farm team of the Penguins, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on the ice. Also in the 2010/11 season he commuted between AHL and ECHL, where he a large part of the season was sidelined due to a wrist injury.

After his injury, he became a key player in the AHL, where he arrived on 10 goals and 27 Assists in 61 missions. The Penguins took the opportunity to renew his contract in summer 2012 for a further year.

Anaheim Ducks

However, in the season 2012/13 was followed, not a single NHL application for Grant, so the Penguins charges him in June 2013 in exchange for Harry Żołnierczyk to the Anaheim Ducks. For the Ducks, he signed a one year contract and plays from now on for the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL. In November, followed Grant for the first appointment to the NHL squad the Ducks, he was immediately followed by his first NHL goal in his NHL debut on 30 November 2013 against the San Jose Sharks.

In March 2014 he was transferred to the Ottawa Senators.

Internationally

At international level, Grant stood in the 2006/07 season six times for Canada's U-18 boys team on the ice and took her part in the U18 World Cup.
