Alex Lely (* 24 May 1973 in The Hague) is a Dutch pool player.

His greatest achievement was winning the snooker championship 2005 in the disciplines 8-Ball and 9 -Ball. Already in 2000 he had made it to the finals at the European Championships in the discipline 14 and 1 endless, losing to Oliver Ortmann.

He also won the 1999 the World Pool Masters, a year later he made it to the finals again, losing to Ralf Souquet. In total he has three times will win tournaments of Euro - Tour (1999 in Neuwied, 2005 in Monfalcone and the Netherlands Open 2006 in Weert ).

1999 and 2005 he represented Europe in the Mosconi Cup, but both tournaments won Team USA. In 2008 he was present at his third appearance as a non -playing team captain and won the Cup. In 2009, he served as captain again, this time the Cup but again went to Team USA.

His nickname in the pool scene is The Plague from the Hague ( The Scourge of The Hague).
