Alex MacDowall

Alex MacDowall (born 22 January 1991 Carlisle, England ) is a British racing driver. He will start in 2012 in the World Touring Car Championship ( WTCC).

Career

MacDowall began his motorsport career in 2005 in touring car racing in the autumn series of T Cars. In 2006 he completed a season in the T Cars and was seventh overall. 2007 MacDowall was launched in the UK Renault Clio Cup and was 32nd in the Drivers' Championship. In the ensuing winter series this championship, he was with a podium placing third. He also took part in this year's two races of the British Seat Cupra Cup. 2008 MacDowall remained in the UK Renault Clio Cup and improved to seventh place overall. In the winter series, he repeated the third overall placement. 2009 graduated from MacDowall his third season in the UK Renault Clio Cup. He won four of twenty races and ended with 445 to 561 points behind runner-up Phil Glew. He also took part in this year to some races of the Belgian Renault Clio Cup and the Spanish Seat Leon Supercopa.

2010 MacDowall received a cockpit in the British Touring Car Championship ( BTCC ) in the operated by RML Group Chevrolet team Silverline Chevrolet. While his team-mate Jason Plato won the championship title, MacDowall finished the season with a second place as best result in eleventh place in the driver standings. By its first pole position he became the youngest driver in the series, which began a race from pole position. In addition, he graduated this year for Chevrolet test drives in the World Touring Car Championship ( WTCC). 2011 MacDowall denied his second BTCC season for Silverline Chevrolet. A second place was again his best finish. In the championship, he improved to ninth place. He was team internally again by Plato, who finished third, beaten.

2012 moved MacDowall in the World Touring Car Championship. He piloted in the WTCC for bamboo -engineering Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T one. After the second race weekend, he finished eleventh overall.
