Alex Tanguay

Alexandre Tanguay ( born November 21, 1979 in Sainte -Justine, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since June 2013 at the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Tanguay played during his junior time at Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Colorado Avalanche selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the first round as the Twelfth from. The season after the draft he played in Halifax and became the end of the season for a few games into the farm team of the avalanche to the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League fetched.

From the 1999/2000 season he played in the NHL for the Colorado Avalanche. Tanguay is a classic wing playmaker with a great eye for goal. He became famous especially in Colorado, when he presented the meantime one of the best lines storm the league with Joe Sakic and Milan Hejduk. With a very strong performance and 21 points scorer in the playoffs, he had a great share in the profits of the Stanley Cup in 2001.

In the strike season of 2004 /05 he was in Switzerland at Lugano a short spell. For the season 2006/ 07 he left Colorado and moved to the Calgary Flames in exchange of the exchange came among other Jordan Leopold for Avalanche.

After a very good first year in Calgary, where he was able to achieve 81 points in 81 games, followed by a weaker second year and at the end of the season 2007/ 08 he was together with a fifth- round draft pick for the NHL Entry Draft in 2008 to the Montreal Canadiens transferred, the charges to the Flames in exchange for Greg Nemisz and a second-round draft pick for the NHL Entry Draft in 2009.

On 30 December 2008, he suffered in the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning for a body check by Yevgeny Artjuchin a shoulder injury which prevented him for more than two months from the league, so he came up with only 50 of 82 possible games for the Canadiens. After the season the French Canadian franchise did not renew the contract, whereupon Tanguay signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Canadian winger returned on June 27, 2013 in an exchange of the Calgary Flames against David Jones and Shane O'Brien of the Colorado Avalanche back, where he had played most recently in 2006. Furthermore, his teammate Cory Sarich was part of the deal.

Family

His younger brother Maxime also plays hockey, currently at the Cool FM 103.5 de Saint- Georges in the Ligue Nord - Americaine de Hockey. He was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 in the third round at 69th overall position of the Chicago Blackhawks.

He is also related to the Canadian singer Céline Dion.
