Alex Wayman

Alex Wayman (* January 11, 1921, † 22 September 2004) was a Tibetologist and Indologist, and Professor of Sanskrit at Columbia University.

After obtaining his B. A. (1948 ), M. A. (1949) and Ph.D. (1959 ) from the University of California, Los Angeles, he came in 1966, first as a visiting associate professor of religion at Columbia University. In 1967 he became a professor of Sanskrit and remained in this position until his retirement in 1991.

Wayman has written several books on Buddhist themes, such Tantric Buddhism and Buddhist logic.
