Alex Zahavi

Alexander Abraham Zahavi ( born January 21, 1991 Los Angeles, California) is an American soccer player of Portuguese and Israeli roots.

Career

Association

In his youth, Alex Zahavi played for Hapoel Haifa, Benfica, Arsenal, FC Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon. At age seven he joined Hapoel Haifa with the football until the family moved to Lisbon in 1999. There he played for Benfica and was at an international youth tournament discovered by an Arsenal scout and lured to London. But two years later Zahavi was recruited by a scout for FC Barcelona. First, he was tied for three years at the academy, with an option for employment for a further seven years. In 2007 he returned to Lisbon, but this time he played for Sporting. There Zahavi saw more opportunities a day for the first team to play.

On July 16, 2010, he completed a trial with Maccabi Haifa, where he impressed coach Elisha Levy so that it ten days later a contract signed. However, he did not come to a league and therefore use the 2010/11 season was established in February 2011 to the end awarded to Hapoel Acre. For Hapoel Akko he ran until the end of the season to a total of ten times. On July 7, 2011 his contract with Maccabi was extended until 2015 and Zahavi was awarded in the Portuguese Primeira Liga for Vitória Setúbal. His first and only league appearance for Setúbal he graduated, however, only at the end of the season in the 1-3 home defeat 12 May 2012 against Benfica. For the 2012/13 season Zahavi was awarded to the league rivals and Neuaufsteiger SC Olhanense, but where he played a single competitive match.

Since summer 2013 he is without a club.

National

Zahavi first played for the U-17, U-18 and U-19 national team of Portugal, however, was no senior international use. Since he also has the American nationality, Zahavi was nominated for the U.S. U-20 national team and took in November 2010 with this at the Torneo de las Americas in part. In the first tournament game against Colombia, he scored the 1-0 opener, the U.S. ultimately won on penalties.

On February 20, 2011 Zahavi was nominated for the Israeli U-21 national team. Three days later, he completed a test match against Arsenal Kiev. On March 17, he was nominated for an international tournament in Austria. Six days later, he made his debut in the U- 21 during the game against Georgia, which was won 2-0. Another three days later, he scored in the game against Romania his first and so far last international goal for Israel's U- 21st
