Alexander Abt

Alexander Viktorovich Abt ( Russian Александр Викторович Абт; born October 22, 1976 in Moscow, Russian SFSR, USSR ) is a former Russian figure skaters.

Life

At the age of six years abbot was sent by his grandmother on the ice in order to strengthen his health. Several injuries over the years nearly ended his career. In 1996, he cut himself during a show running in Mexico with the blade of his skate in the right thigh muscle when he collided with the gang. In 2001 he got an infection, such as where he collapsed after the free skate at the European Championships. In 2003, he had to stop at the European Championships because of an ankle injury. One of his first coach was Sergei Volkov, who however died of cancer. Since 2002, Abt trained with Alexander Schulin after Rafael Harutyunyan was eleven years his coach.

1998 Abt won the bronze medal at the European Championships, he was Vice European Champion 2002. From 2000 to 2002 Abbot took part in the World Championships. His best result was a fourth place in 2002. His single Olympics ended Abt 2002 in Salt Lake City in fifth place. In 2003 he became Russian Champion. Abbot had during his career with Alexei Yagudin and Evgeni Plyushchenko very strong national competition.

After his amateur career Abt performed on various shows in Europe, Russia and Japan. In 2008, he met with the actress Anastasia Makejewa on an ice show in the television station " Perwy channel ". Also in 2008 he played the role of a figure skater in the television series " Scharki Ljod ( Hot Ice ) ", where the viewer, secret intrigues and true friendship, was shown the other side of this sport, love and betrayal. Together with well-known actors played with Alexei Yagudin with, Roman Kostomarow, Alexei Tikhonov, Povilas Vanagas and Irina Sluzkaja more figure skating stars.

In April 1999, Abt married the former ice skater Yelena Pavlova. Her son was born in March 2000. Abt collaborates with his wife as a figure skating coach in New Jersey (USA).
