Alexander Bade

Alexander Bade ( born August 25, 1970 in Berlin ) is a former German football goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach of the 1st FC Cologne.

Alexander Bade began his career as a goalkeeper for Tennis Borussia Berlin, where he already played as a teenager. For the 1988/89 season, he joined the 1st FC Cologne and from 1991 was in the squad for the Bundesliga team, which, however, he always stood in the shadow of Bodo Illgner and came to just five appearances in four years. He then moved in 1994 to KFC Uerdingen where he was, however, also used in only five games in two years. Bernd Dreher was there the goalkeeper. After descending from the KFC Uerdingen he claimed the position of Master goalkeeper against its new competitors Achim Hollerieth. So he played in the second division two years 57 League Appearances for the KFC Uerdingen. He moved into the 1998/99 season for Hamburger SV. Because of the local hegemony of Hans -Jörg Butt succeeded him there as well only to the position of Substitute goalkeeper and it was used during his two- year commitment in any league game.

Then he moved in 2000 back to the 1st FC Cologne, where he was able to initially establish itself as a viable alternative to the former goalkeeper Markus Pröll and then displace these. In the season 2002/ 03 Alex Bath was the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper under the former FC coach Friedhelm glitter and wore with his performances for immediate resurgence in. As in the following season with Stefan Wessels a promising young goalkeeper of FC Bayern Munich moved to FC, bathing, however, was displaced back to the bench in the coming season. Coach glitter explained his decision for Wessels time with his gut feeling, because both goalkeepers were equally strong. Even under coach Huub Stevens Wessels was preferred to swim. As Wessels was injured early in the season 2004/2005, Bath took the opportunity that came his way and conquered with excellent services for the entire season, the position of the root goalkeeper back and contributed significant share to a rebirth. With its parades he saved the FC as some point. Nevertheless, he had the following season under coach Rapolder again in the cold and Stefan Wessels was again the No. 1 goal. Only through the violation of Wessels played bathing the remaining games of the season.

Bath moved to season 2006/ 07 for first division side VfL ​​Bochum, where he signed a one year contract. There he was, however, only very sporadically used. Therefore, he moved to the 2007/08 season to the second division side SC Paderborn 07, where he signed a one -year contract, which was given an option for a further year. Bathing changed on 25 January 2008 to Borussia Dortmund, where he signed a contract valid until end of season. In Dortmund he was after the injury of goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller behind Marc Ziegler. His only game in Jersey Borussia Dortmund, he graduated at the home game against FC Schalke 04 10 February 2008, as Marc Ziegler injured his shoulder and had to be replaced at half-time. On 17 May 2008, he was adopted, together with Christian Wörns and Philipp Degen at Borussia Dortmund. After that, he was initially held without a contract and during training the VDV fit, where he was also active as a goalkeeping coach.

In the 2008 /09 season bathing eventually playing for Arminia Bielefeld, as the goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez had suffered a difficult knee injury. Here he ended his active career. Since the season 2009/10 bath works as goalkeeper coach at FC Cologne 1.
