Alexander Buturlin

Alexander Borisovich Buturlin (Russian Александр Борисович Бутурлин, scientific transliteration Aleksandr Borisovic Buturlin; * 18.jul / June 28 1694greg, .. .. † 31 Augustjul / September 11 1767greg in Moscow) was a Russian general.

Buturlin came from a Russian boyar family and was educated at the Maritime Academy in Saint Petersburg. 1720, he was adjutant of the Czar Peter the Great. 1756 he was appointed Field Marshal. In the campaign in 1760 he commanded the Russian army allied with the Austrians against Frederick the Great was operating. He was unsuccessful and was in constant dispute with the Austrian generals.
