Alexander Campbell King

Alexander Campbell King ( born December 7, 1856 in Charleston, South Carolina, † July 25, 1926 in Flat Rock, North Carolina) was an American lawyer and United States Solicitor General.

Biography

After qualifying as a lawyer in the state of South Carolina, he initially worked as a lawyer before he was legal adviser to several railway companies in the subsequent period. First, he served from 1887 to 1889 as chief advisor to the East & West Railroad of Alabama, and at the same time 1887-1893 as assistant to the chief adviser of the Atlanta & West Point Railroad. In addition, from 1890 to 1892 was also assistant to the chief adviser to the Richmond & Danville Railroad. He was most recently 1894-1901 Chief Adviser of the Chattanooga, Rome and Columbus Railroad and then returned to the bar.

In November 1918, Alexander Campbell King was appointed by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson to the Solicitor General and adopted as such until May 1920, ranked third in the Ministry of Justice of the United States. 1920 he was appointed a judge of the 5th U.S. Court of Appeals; he belonged to this federal appeals court based in New Orleans until 1924.

Most recently, he was from 1925 until his death partner of King & Spalding, a law firm with 200 lawyers today and based in Atlanta.
