Alexander Courage

Alexander Courage ( born December 10, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † May 15, 2008 in Pacific Palisades, California ) was a two -time Academy Award -nominated American film composer and orchestrator.

Career

Courages career as a composer and arranger of film and television music lasted from the late 1950s into the new millennium. He became world famous through the theme song of the series Star Trek, which he composed in 1965 in just one week.

In the 1960s, Courage worked alongside the Starship Enterprise to another successful television series such as The Seaview - A secret mission and Lost in Space. From the mid- 1980s, he worked as an arranger for film music, among other things, Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams. Throughout his career, Courage was nominated twice for an Oscar, an Emmy, he was also awarded in 1988.

Alexander Courage died on 15 May 2008 in a retirement home in Pacific Palisades / Los Angeles.
