Alexander Georg Supan

Alexander Supan ( born March 3 1847 in San Candido, Tyrol, † July 7, 1920 in Breslau) was an Austrian geographer.

After studies in Graz and Vienna Supan 1871 teacher at the secondary school in Ljubljana. He went from 1875 to 1877 again for special preparation for the academic curriculum subject to Graz, Halle and Leipzig. 1877 Supan worked as a teacher at the high school and professor at the University of Czernowitz, where he was appointed in 1884 as professor of geography. In 1884 he also took over the publication of Peter 's Geographic releases, for in 1885, the beneficial geographical literature reports substantiated; its function as a publisher he held for 25 years. In 1909 he moved to the University of Breslau, where he was professor of geography up to 1916.
