Alexander Goedicke

Alexander Fyodorovich Goedicke (also:. . Gedike, Goedike, Goedike or Gödicke, Russian Александр Фёдорович Гедике; * 20 Februarjul / March 4 1877greg in Moscow, † July 9, 1957 ) was a Russian organist, pianist and composer.

Goedicke's ancestors came from Germany, but had been around for several generations as a musician in Moscow. Goedicke was known in Russia as an organist, pianist and music teacher. In 1909 he was appointed professor of piano at the Moscow Conservatory. Later he also taught organ and chamber music, and made primarily known as a Bach interpreter.

But He created next to a large number of his own compositions, including several operas and symphonies, but mainly organ and piano music. Goedicke's cousin was the Russian composer and pianist Nikolai Medtner.
