Alexander Khalifman

Alexander Khalifman Valeryevich (Russian Александр Валерьевич Халифман, often in English transliteration Alexander Khalifman, born January 18, 1966 in Leningrad ) is a Russian chess player.

Life

In the years 1982 and 1984 was Alexander Khalifman junior champion of the Soviet Union. The title of a Grand Master he won in 1990. Previously for the Soviet Chess Federation playing, he spent the years 1991 and 1992 the German Chess Federation, before he joined the Russian Chess Federation. In 1996, he was a Russian national champion.

From 1990 to 2003 he was active in various clubs in the Chess League ( 1990-1992 FTG Frankfurt, 1992-1994 SC Hagen, 1994-1997 PSV Duisburg, 1997-2003 SG Porz ).

From 1999 to 2000 he was FIDE World Champion. Today he runs a chess academy in St. Petersburg and has emerged as an author of chess books. In the multi-volume works Opening for White According To Anand and Opening for White accor ding to Kramnik he represents a work based on 1.e4 or 1.Nf3 opening repertoire
