Alexander Kharitonov (ice hockey)

Alexander Kharitonov Jewgenjewitsch (Russian Александр Евгеньевич Харитонов; born March 30, 1976 in Moscow, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian professional ice hockey player who plays for Rubin Tyumen HK Wysschaja in the league since 2010.

Career

Alexander Kharitonov began his career at Wjatitsch Ryazan in the third Russian league before he moved in 1994 to HK Dynamo Moscow and played for the second team. In the season 1994/95 he made his debut in the International Hockey League, the predecessor of today's Russian Super League. In the following season, he completed some games for the second team Dynamos and was later loaned to HK Lipetsk, where he scored 52 points scorer in 64 games. For the 1996/97 season he returned to Moscow and played from then on in the first team of Dynamo. In the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the third round and 81st and moved a short time later to North America. In his first NHL season, he completed 66 games for Tampa Bay in which he could reach seven goals and 15 assists. In the summer of 2001, he was discharged together with Adrian Aucoin to the New York Islanders, who submitted to Tampa Bay in exchange Mathieu Biron and a second-round draft pick.

After five NHL games for the Islanders, he was in the farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, sent to the AHL. Shortly thereafter, he returned to Russia and signed a contract with Avangard Omsk HK. In the summer of 2003 he was taken from Dynamo Moscow under contract, where he played until the end of the season 2007 /08. Then he stood for a year at Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod under contract before he moved to HK Sibir Novosibirsk shortly before the start of the season 2009/10.

Internationally

Alexander Kharitonov was appointed for the first time for a major tournament in the Russian national team before the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2000. More World Cup participations followed 2001, 2005 ( winning the bronze medal ), 2006 and 2007 ( winning the bronze medal ). He also took part in the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
