Alexander Martynyuk

Alexander Akimovich Martynyuk (Russian Александр Акимович Мартынюк; born September 11, 1945 in Moscow) is a former Soviet ice hockey player, who won two gold medals at the World Ice Hockey Championships during his career with Spartak Moscow several times Soviet Champion and Soviet Cup winner and with the Soviet national team.

Career

Alexander Martynyuk began his career in 1963 at Krylia Sovetov Moscow, for which he was active for two seasons in the Klass A. 1965 brought him Vsevolod Bobrov, despite his rather small stature to Spartak Moscow. Spartak he made with Vladimir Shadrin Alexander Yakushev and a very high-scoring forward line, the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s found himself regularly in the Topscorerlisten the Soviet league. Won Spartak 1966 nor the vice-championship, the team reached a year later, winning the Soviet Championship. This success could repeat Martynjuks attack series in 1969 and 1976 the team. He also won in 1970 and 1971 with the Soviet Spartak Cup competition.

At the end of his career Martynyuk received permission to change to the other Western European countries and played 1977-1980 at Kapfenberg SV, before he ended his career. In total he scored 212 goals in 410 games in the league, respectively Wysschaja Klass A.

Internationally

On 1 December 1968, he was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Soviet national team on the ice. His international career was crowned with two gold medals at the World Ice Hockey Championships in 1971 and 1973. At the World Championships in 1973, he scored in the game against Germany a total of eight goals, which has since been surpassed by any player at the World Championships.

For the national team, he scored a total of 24 goals in 45 internationals. On November 5, 1990 he played his last international match. In 1973 he was awarded the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.

Today Martinyuk is the HK Legendy Chokkeja, an old boys' club, active.
