Alexander Merkel

Alexander Merkel (born 22 February 1992 Perwomaiskij, Kazakhstan ) is a German footballer who is currently under contract at FC Watford.

Career

Merkel came in 1998 with his parents and siblings from Kazakhstan to Germany and grew initially in Waldersbach in the Westerwald.

Association

AC Milan

Merkel played from 2003 in the Youth for VfB Stuttgart. In 2008 he moved to the youth department of the Italian club AC Milan. On December 8, 2010 Alexander Merkel was in the UEFA Champions League debut for the first team in Milan, as he came off the bench in the match against Ajax Amsterdam in the 76th minute for Robinho. On January 6, 2011, he came in the game with Cagliari Calcio his first appearance in Serie A. National

Merkel played for various youth national teams of the DFB.

For the German U-18 national team, he played for the first time on 19 August 2009 in a 3-0 win over Saudi Arabia when he was substituted at half-time. His second and last game in this age group was the 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso on September 9, 2009. On 17 November 2010 he made his debut in the 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic in the U-19 national team, scoring the interim 1-0 lead.
