Alexander Povernov

Powernow Alexander (born 17 February 1978) is a German Olympic boxer.

Career

Powernow starts for the boxing club Gifhorn. In 1996, he took second place at the German Junior Championships. After moving to the senior citizens he has so far been five times German champions to 91 kg: 2000 with a noncombat -final victory against Steffen Kretschmann and 2004 to 2007 of 2004 with a final victory over Stefan Köber, who had beaten him in 2003. He finished second in 1997 and 2003, 1998 and 1999 he finished third.

When Chemistry Cup in Halle in 2005, he could prevail ( with victory over Pablo Hernández Yoan ) and 2006.

In 2004 he took part in the European Championships in Pula, but failed already in the first round on Bulgarian Kubrat Pulew. In 2005 he achieved third places respectively in the EU Championship in Cagliari and at the World Championships in Mianyang. In the semi-finals he had narrowly lost on points against Alexander Alexeyev and won bronze.

Also in the 2006 European Championship in Plovdiv he finished third, where he was defeated in the semifinal against Russian Roman Romanchuk. At the 2007 World Championships in Chicago, however Powernow retired early from to eventual champion Clemente Russo Italian.
