Alexander Salkind

Alexander Salkind (Russian Александр Михайлович Залкинд; born June 2, 1921 in Free City of Danzig, today Gdansk Poland, † March 8, 1997 in Neuilly -sur -Seine, Hauts -de -Seine, Ile -de -France, France ) was a film producer.

Salkind, son of Russian film producers and scriptwriters Mikhail Salkind, grew up in Berlin, lived in Cuba and Mexico and later became a Mexican citizen. After that, he lived for a short time in the U.S. and later in France, Italy and Switzerland.

Salkind was especially true in the 1960s and 1970s, a sought-after producer of B- monumental films, including the 1961 film produced The Rape of the Sabine Women. In 1992 he produced the film History Christopher Columbus - The Discovery.

His two best known works, however, were 1973, The Three Musketeers and Superman 1978.

His son Ilya Salkind was also active as a film maker.
