Alexander Schneider

Alexander ( Sasha ) Schneider ( born October 21, 1908 in Vilnius, Empire Russia; † 2 February 1993 in New York ) was a Lithuanian violinist of Jewish origin.

He was concertmaster in Frankfurt, emigrated to the USA in 1933 as a Jew, was a member of the Budapest Quartet and leader of the Casals Festival in Prades.

He was also the founder of the free concerts in New York's Washington Square Park.
